Time to Make Music

It’s been a while since I last checked in on my blog. There’s been some changes - I’m back at school now cause its September, which has been keeping me busy balancing. everything. There is always challenges in life. Its part of what keeps life interesting. So, I decided to write a post directed to anyone who is in school or has a job that keeps them busy outside of music or whatever passion they might have. How do you stay focussed on your passion when life gets in the way? Here are my top ways I balance doing what I love (music) and the things I am required to do.

  1. You have more time than you think you do. This is something I struggle with a lot, feeling that I don’t have time to practice a little longer or go to the gym, even finish my homework or go visit a friend. What I’ve discovered is that more often than not, you do have time. You just have to schedule it in a sense. This leads me to my next point.

  2. Make lists. Writing things out helps to keep your thoughts organized. Prioritize the list - things you NEED to do and things you WANT to do.

  3. Put a limit on yourself. Designate time to a specific task, and then move on. Sometimes you can’t force it.

  4. Find ways to make the things you don’t like doing more interesting. For example, when I do my math homework, I listen to classical music. It helps me focus, and a lot of the time I will find a specific piece that I’ll later want to learn.

  5. Work as hard as you can. Tasks that are hard will be rewarding once you’re finished. Take the time that you DO have to do something and work as hard as you can.
